Last year, the Friends of Global Fund MENA launched a national health awareness campaign "The Humanitarian Campaign for Health Impact" on the occasion of the World’s AIDS Day on the 1st of December.
The campaign was implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and various other stakeholders, and entailed a series of outreach and awareness events targeting the Jordanian public.
The launch event included the first ‘Health Carnival’ in Jordan, which sought to raise the awareness of youth and the community of their health and health issues. The first carnival was a great success, bringing together more than 4000 supporters and reaching tens of thousands more through PR, media and follow-up activities. Participants represented 30 different community organizations, and came from nine governorates. They included 20 artists, representatives of sport initiatives, 40 community leaders, and many more.
This year the Friends of Global Fund MENA is planning for the second campaign that seeks to build on the successes of the first one and engage even more Jordanians and youth, and reach out to further communities in order to get its messages across. The ultimate goal is to share key messages about AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria to create awareness of these infectious diseases, tolerance and acceptance towards those who suffer from them, and support for eliminating them.
